Basket molds require fast heat dissipation, especially around thin ribs and deep cores. We insert BeCu at the top of the core to accelerate cooling, reduce cycle time, and improve the dimensional stability and gloss of the molded basket.
Baskets have numerous bumping holes (perforations). We carefully design the parting surface and apply appropriate R-angles to prevent common defects such as hole break-through and flash (burrs), ensuring clean knock-out holes without secondary trimming.
Uniform water lines are designed on both core and cavity sides to promote even temperature distribution. This minimizes weld lines (melting lines) on visible surfaces and prevents warpage on tall/large baskets.
We typically recommend Steel 2738 (pre-hardened ~280-320 HB) for basket molds. It offers excellent polishability for high-gloss or textured finishes and delivers extended mold life under continuous high-speed, high-pressure production.
